I didn't really notice the cooling effect too much one way or another, and as someone who is always cold, that wasn't a selling factor for me anyway. I swear to God, I could/can feel every single square and it's only made worse for me when I'm sleeping on my side, which is the position I'm in for most of the night. The thing about the Purple that I could never get over is that horribly uncomfortable square/grid ("Purple") layer at the very top of the mattress. The discount (Tempur-Pedics almost NEVER go on sale!) made the purchase of that mattress at least slightly more palatable for us and we will finally be able to rid ourselves of our POS Purple, so I couldn't possibly be any happier!! Because I have HAD to sleep with the bed at an incline since my surgery, my husband has been left sleeping on an air mattress in our living room for the past month (which isn't fair to him), getting a split king bed was something we needed to get sooner than later.įortunately, we were able to score a slight discount - somewhere in the neighborhood of $1,000 to $1,500 off - on our (after discount!) almost $11,000 Tempur-Pedic due to all of the mattress companies having their annual Memorial Day Sales. We were already planning to get a split king bed because our (now) ginormous almost-three-year-old bed-hog-of-a-son sleeps in bed with us (don't judge!), so a queen-sized bed was just way too small for all of us, and because I need to sleep with my head/upper body at an incline (due to my neck injury), while my husband claims that he needs to sleep with the bed flat. I couldn't handle our Purple mattress any longer after being stuck in it for such an extended period of time, so I told my husband that we needed to get rid of it and finally get ourselves a Tempur-Pedic and (fortunately!) he agreed with me. A few months later, I realized that I couldn't STAND the Purple, yet I continued sleeping on it because (I think) we were outside of our trial period.įast-forward to the middle of last month when I had a cervical fusion surgery on my neck and I was all-but-bedridden for the first few weeks. At the time, it was better than what we HAD been using, but really, anything would have been better than the POS mattress we had immediately prior to our Purple. My husband and I got our queen-sized Purple3 mattress with an adjustable base in July of 2018 when I was 7-1/2 months pregnant. There are no handles to help with moving it, so if you need to move the bed make sure you have plenty of help. The bed weighs just over 200lbs and is extremely floppy. We justified the price by realizing that we spend 25%-30% of our lives on the bed. Firstly, as I just mentioned, my wife does not like how cold the bed gets. We have only a couple issues with the bed. We have let many friends/family try it out and about 50/50 love the feel and don’t care for it. The feel of the mattress is unique, and not for everyone. She loves the feel of the bed but doesn’t like the cool feel. The bed is cool to the touch when I first lay on it, and never heats up too much throughout the night although it does warm up after laying on it for a few minutes. We have made sure to rotate the bed every 6 months to help keep it from “breaking down” in any one spot. I can lay in the same position the entire night and not become sore, which is rare. The bed still feels firm where I want it, but very soft on my pressure points. It’s not uncomfortably soft, nor does it have any sag. The mattress has become noticeably softer over the years. I love it! Every single night when I lay down on my bed I think to myself “Ahhh…now this is comfort”. I have had my Purple hybrid premier 4” for just over 2.5 years now.
